Karlie Finally Gets A Press Conference
Nearly a year has passed since Karlie Lain Guse’s disappearance from her family home in Chalfant, CA and the Mono Country Sheriff’s Department along with the FBI held a press conference to increase the awareness of her case. This was a positive step forward in a case that has gripped so many. Yet, there are many questions surrounding her disappearance that remain unanswered.
What happened to you, honey? Where are you?Karlie’s mom, Lindsay Fairley
A week before the press conference, the venue was moved from Bridgeport, CA which is 100 miles north of Karlie’s home on Highway 395 to the Chalfant Community Center in Chalfant, CA situated close to Highway 6. Sheriff Braun referenced the “road noise” heard in the background. She took that opportunity to point out the highway Karlie was last seen walking towards.
The noise you hear behind you is the traffic on Highway 6. Where Karlie was last seen is about two miles south of here. She has not been seen since.
Mono County Sheriff Ingrid Braun
Following Sheriff Braun’s comment on the road noise audibly heard during her speech, the last-minute change from Bridgeport, CA to Chalfant, CA took on new meaning – causing suspicion that the move was contrived. That is the highway close to the Guse home. There is, however, a marked difference between traffic at lunchtime on a Friday and traffic early on a Saturday morning.
The audience could also hear young children playing and laughing in the background which some viewed as insensitive to the parents of Karlie as their child is missing and is presumably not playing and laughing.
Assistant Special Agent in charge Robert Tripp from the FBI then took the podium.
This investigation is active and ongoing…In the past year, we have received a number of tips from the public and I want to thank the public for their interest and engagement…I have a very important request. I need the public to sustain and increase that engagement to bring Karlie home.
Robert Tripp, FBI
Sheriff Braun came back to the podium for some closing words and indicated the family would not be taking questions, however, she would. The only question asked seemed staged. A reporter* for Sierra News, the same local television station that had interviewed the Guse’s in May 2019, asked Sheriff Braun to speak to the questions swirling about the three witnesses. She spoke about their ‘credibility’ and that they have no reason not to believe them. Does anyone else think the question was preplanned by the Mono County Sheriff?
*A shill also called a plant or a stooge is a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization. Shills can carry out their operations in the areas of media, journalism, marketing, politics, confidence games, or other business areas. A shill may also act to discredit opponents or critics of the person or organization in which they have a vested interest through character assassination or other means. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill
What’s shocking is that Sheriff Braun’s statements concerning the witnesses have changed from what was said in the month following Karlie’s disappearance. Now, two witnesses ‘knew’ Karlie instead of the one witness in the beginning. Notably, her verbiage has morphed into the witnesses ‘saw Karlie’. Originally, it was stated that the witnesses saw someone who ‘matched the description of Karlie’.
Sheriff Braun’s inaccuracies are not acceptable variances. She is working hard to shape a narrative much like the Guse’s.
Remarkably, there was not a question and answer portion following the press conference involving the parents. The Guse’s have ceased to communicate in any manner and rumor has it that they have threatened litigation against Karlie’s mom for voicing her concern about their lying and inconsistencies.
The old adage that ‘if you tell the truth you never need to remember what you said’ has been a foreign concept to the Guse’s. It’s highly suspect that the last two people who saw Karlie won’t open themselves up to questioning. The only logical explanation for them to refuse is they know their answers won’t stand up to scrutiny. If you have nothing to hide then there should be no difficulties. I challenge everyone to go to YouTube and find a press conference with parents of a child who’s truly missing. You can’t shut them up.
One can’t get past the nagging thought that Karlie deserved this press conference a year ago…that if her disappearance was handled in the manner that is should have been, the press conference Sheriff Braun held on October 11, 2019, would not have been necessary.
Karlie deserved so much more.
